About Dr. Veronica Hutchings

Clinical Psychologist

Veronica is a registered psychologist with a PhD in clinical psychology. Prior to moving back to her hometown of Corner Brook in 2015, she worked for 10 years at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. While there, she worked in a number of areas including: pain management unit, multi-organ transplant program (kidney and kidney-pancreas programs), physical medicine and rehabilitation (MSK, spinal cord injuries, ABI, and subacute), and senior’s health/geriatric medicine. While in geriatric medicine, the majority of her caseload was devoted to working with individuals affected by dementia – both individuals in the early stages of dementia as well as family members/friends of persons with dementia. Her theoretical orientation is predominantly cognitive behavioural, meaning she helps clients explore how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours affect one another, but incorporates elements of dialectical behaviour therapy and mindfulness approaches into therapy. As she has a limited number of appointments available each week she only accepts referrals to assist individuals affected by dementia (both the individual or their care partners), as well as individuals coping with acute or persistent health conditions (including persistent pain).
