menopause

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy:
Menopause is a transitional period in every woman’s life where fluctuating and/or decreasing hormone levels can lead to a variety of symptoms:

– painful intercourse
– urinary or fecal leakage
– pressure or the feeling of “falling out” near the vagina or rectum (prolapse)
– frequency and urgency of urine
– fatigue and/or muscle weakness
– painful scars/adhesions from surgeries

Pelvic health physiotherapy includes:

-pelvic floor awareness strategies, strengthening and relaxation techniques
– conservative prolapse management, urinary urge ad frequency reduction education
– bowel and bladder management techniques
– soft tissue techniques for optimal muscle function
– post-surgical scar tissue treatment

Acupuncture:
Acupuncture is a gentle, non-invasive, drug free way to treat the symptoms of menopause.

Acupuncture works to relieve menopausal symptoms by balancing hormones, reducing hot flashes, and decreasing insomnia and irritability. Acupuncture can also treat depression and anxiety that some women experience with menopause.

Every woman is different and may experience slightly different menopausal symptoms. A registered acupuncturist will create a specific treatment plan for each woman that will include acupuncture points, dietary recommendations and physical exercises. Once menopausal symptoms are under control, the benefits can last up to three months. Returning symptoms are usually much milder and can be brought back under control with additional treatments.
